Sian and Nathan, together since their university days, originally planned for a huge celebration with friends and family but were never inspired to do any of the actual planning. This led to the realisation that they should just elope, and with the help of Tassie’s best event planner and stylist, the lovely Gee from Dear Leone, and one of our fave Tassie celebrants (hey there Rachael Calvert), that’s exactly what they did. Before you enjoy these pretty pictures by By the Wilde, dive into the copy below…

THE THEMEWe had been together almost ten years, engaged for over three. Every time we discussed our wedding plans we never felt inspired. Neither of us eats meat, we hate public speaking and we’re sober/pregnant. One night we spoke with a good friend of ours who told us about their elopement. This sparked an exciting whirlwind of four months of planning [with the amazing Dear Leone]. What we got was the spot-on celebration of our relationship. We could have the food and setting we wanted and speak our vows intimately. It was very us”.

THE SUITI always knew I would wear something other than your classics. [The Joe Black] linen and autumnal colours just suited me and our setting. Doubted it many times (even on the day), but overall SUPER happy I went with my gut.

THE DRESSI had been wedding dress shopping and tried on some beautiful dresses, but none of them really felt like ‘me’.  Also, at the time of our elopement, I was six months pregnant so buying a dress ‘off the rack’ wasn’t really an option.  I knew I wanted something with long sleeves and not necessarily a completely white dress. I brought some inspirational pictures to Estelle and the result was my beautiful outfit – it turned out exactly how I’d imagined.”

A WORD OF ADVICEMake sure not to lose yourselves and your relationship on the expectation of what everyone thinks a wedding should be.”

STANDOUT VENDORSWe LOVED all our vendors. We especially loved Gee from Dear Leone – we love her style, approach and general vibe. She is who we owe the magic to. Also, Omar from By the Wilde made two camera-shy people feel so comfortable and relaxed. Rachael Calvert, our celebrant, made our ceremony so perfectly us and felt like a bit of a ‘mum’ figure on the day, helping Nathan decide which shirt to wear.”
