Sophie and Tim met 11 years ago just after high school and were engaged for two years before tying the knot in the beautiful Wye River, along the Great Ocean Road. “Fuss-free and fun” was the overarching theme for the weekend lovefest, and the couple couldn’t have been happier with how it all panned out. Brown Paper Parcel was there to capture all the vibrant and heartfelt moments. Scroll down for the details…

THE VENUE “I grew up in Apollo Bay and Tim has a family holiday house in Anglesea, so we had always spent a lot of our time together down the coast. It was important for us to find somewhere coastal or country and a location that we really connected with. Good food and wine was also a non-negotiable. We were obviously super familiar with Wye River, but when we did a site inspection of Wye Beach Hotel, we really connected with the venue manager, Fiona. She seemed so organised and on top of everything, we knew she would make the process and planning in the lead-up so seamless, and she did!”

THE DRESS “Finding my ‘perfect’ dress didn’t come easy. I could never really imagine myself in a super feminine, traditional number and it was important for me to feel ‘myself’ in it. Jacquemus then released his new collection that was dedicated to matrimony, and it was bizarre how perfect the timing was. I never thought I would have a train, but the fabric and embellishments gave the dress this unique and understated look, which made it feel less traditional. I felt very ‘me’ in it. I had always pictured myself doing an outfit change into something fun and dance appropriate, but still chic, so my friend Andria from Honeymoon Studios made me the cutest little mini dress!”

MEMORABLE MOMENT “When my bridesmaids and I walked down the aisle, our friends cheered an applauded us which really broke the ice and made me feel so much more relaxed. It took my nerves right away and made me realise that we were surrounded by our dearest friends and family, who we love so much.”

FAVE DEETSHolly Ginnane absolutely nailed the brief with our flowers. Because we had such a stunning, natural back drop for our ceremony, we opted for a ground arbour rather than a tall arbour so that it wouldn’t take away from the view. Her flower selection was perfect, and we all adored our bouquets too. Another favourite was having our friends come together to form a couple of wedding bands. One band played some sexy instrumental jazz during cocktail hour, and the other band played a short set of fun party covers once the formalities concluded. They were the highlight of the night and had everyone up dancing immediately.”

A WORD OF ADVICE… “Stick to what you value, don’t try to please everyone and remember to have fun on the day. It’s the one day you will have everyone you love together, so just enjoy it and make the most of it.”

STANDOUT VENDORS “Our photographer Jess Tremp from Brown Paper Parcel was an absolute joy to work with. We really appreciated her approach to wedding photography and she captured our day so naturally and candidly.”
