Here at Hello May we’ve never been opposed to faraway weddings – any excuse to getaway is fine by us! These stunning images by wedding photographer Nikole Ramsay remind us however, that there really is no place like home.
For Meggon and Ben, their big day began like any other – he went surfing while she did yoga. Having always shared a deep appreciation for Australia’s natural beauty, they chose to marry at The Barn in Wallington, Victoria – a costal barn, as the name suggests, situated on 30 acres of stunning, rolling hills.
Located only a stones throw from Barwon Heads and Torquay along Australia’s well known Great Ocean Road, Meggon and Ben could not have picked a better spot for their laid back, rustic wedding. Fairy lights and crystal chandeliers created a magical atmosphere amongst their classic white and green place settings but it was their incredible, luscious floral archway by Moss Industry Flowers that really took the cake.
Speaking of Cake, Sticky Fingers Bakery, put together a selection of to-die-for-desserts. Even we would be tempted to abandon our strict healthy eating habits (cough, cough) for a slice of their heirloom carrot cake. In fact their entire menu makes our mouths water. Offering a range of unique cakes such as the Minty Monty (mint, hibiscus syrup, raspberry, coconut cream, white chocolate) we suddenly want to move to Melbourne.
German-born designer Gwendolynne is also a Melbourne local and the name behind Meggon’s beautiful lace gown. “The dress… OMG! It is called the liberty, designed and made by Gwendolynne. It was a simple (but impossibly elegant) all lace tight frock”, says Meggon who teamed it with loose, blonde curls and a simple fern and daisy head piece. “Ben was so moved he had a tear!” says photographer Nikole.
