Now, this is a love story for the ages. “We grew up with regular play dates as kids until one day, they turned into coffee dates around our college years,” explains the bride, who wore Grace Loves Lace on her wedding day. “In terms of our relationship, officially speaking, it was our four year anniversary on our wedding day.” Add a proposal film including said play dates and one epic view and to say this couple has a pretty special thing going on is the understatement of the century. Scroll down for all the pics from Carly Tia Photography, who thankfully was there to capture it all on camera…

THE VENUE “The venue was actually my Godmother’s in Valla, NSW. A beautiful open plan, outdoor space, with multiple spots for a potential ceremony and an indoor reception, that they built from scratch. The general vibe of the venue was rustic, but we set out to add some class and sophistication. It was kind of a mini-destination wedding, being 3.5 hours away, so none of our guests had seen it before which made it even more special. It gave our beautiful friends and family the opportunity to make a weekend out of it too!”

FAVOURITE DETAILS “The arbour was pretty magical. My florist had never done anything like it before, but I attempted to draw a rough picture along with a few Pinterest concepts and she absolutely blew me away. We were surrounded by timber on the property, so creating a soft, elegant timber-free arch completely from florals, foliage and pampas grass softened the feel of the whole environment. It was also portable so we could re-use it in the reception to frame the dance floor – she was a true creative genius!”

DIY “We designed, printed and made all the invites ourselves. I loved the recycled, textured paper complemented with elegant writing. I had a picture in my head that turned out a little different than planned, but none the less we had guests asking what company printed them so we must have done something right!”

THE DRESS “I think Grace Loves Lace was the third bridal boutique I had been to, and I had six of their dresses to try on. The ‘Arlo’ gown wasn’t even on my list to try on, but just before I left I decided to try on something a little more simple as none of the lace designs were jumping out at me. I tried on the 100% silk slip and felt so comfy yet elegant, so the next day I locked it in.”

A WORD OF ADVICE It’s so easy to get caught up and even overwhelmed while planning a wedding, but if you focus on marriage, rather than the details of the day, there will be a lot less stress. Your guests won’t remember what you didn’t do, they’ll take away the general feeling of the day- which is hopefully your genuine, jaw-dropping, crazy love for each other.”

WE WISH WE… “We would have loved to have spent more time with everyone who travelled long distances for our day. We didn’t want a ‘recovery day’ but maybe a pre-wedding get together with all our guests who traveled would have taken the pressure off trying to get around to everyone on the wedding date.”

STANDOUT VENDORS Both our photographer and videographer were so relaxed, which suited us perfectly. They directed us as needed, but mainly let the whole day just unfold so naturally and candid. With both Jarod and I used to being behind the camera, they made us feel totally natural!”
