We are pretty dang excited to be sharing this couple’s super spesh day with you, dear readers, so take a seat and cozy up. Bride Caitlin is an art teacher AND works at Sphere collective (where she sourced her dreamboat of a gown) whilst groom Bailey produces music and works in TV. Is it any wonder their day is oozing creativity and sweet details?! As loved up as they come, this duo were engaged for a short but sweet six months. In planning their nuptials they chose to focus on florals, DIY projects and pure good times. They also managed to snag lens-ledge Ben Sowry to capture all their wedding day mems. So, get scrolling for some of his very nifty handiwork…
THE VENUE “The ceremony location was a family friends property and we knew from the beginning that this was where we wanted to get married. As for the reception, we loved going to Circa prior to getting married so we were so excited when we found out they were just starting to do wedding functions. We were actually the first couple to enquire about having our wedding there and they hosted their first-ever reception just the week before ours.”
FAVOURITE DETAILS “We loved that we actually got to do the ceremony in the trees. It gave it a sense of intimacy even though it was still outside. The flowers were definitely a favourite detail too. We didn’t have much in the way of decorations so we just made it about all of Ella’s [Yukari Botanicals] beautiful florals! She did an amazing job and we couldn’t have loved it more.”
THE DRESS “I got my dress from Sphere Collective, where I actually work. I only tried on about four dresses and found it relatively easy to pick. I think seeing them every day really helped me know what would suit me and what I loved. Sarah (from Sphere) had to hustle me to try them on and pick one though because we gave her less than 6 months for the dress to be made! But it was great, I loved my dress. It was so fun and non-traditional whilst also being very wedding-y. Also, how good is tulle!”
A WORD OF ADVICE “Chill out. Don’t get hung up on what other people and Instagram say you should do. Just do what you think will bring you the most joy and represent your relationship in a way that is true.”
WE’RE GLAD WE “We were glad that we didn’t do things we felt obligated to do. There were a few things that may be considered “traditional” that we chose not to do and we were glad we decided to leave them out because they never felt like they would represent us well. We didn’t do a first dance, it’s just not something we are into. We also didn’t do wedding favours as we feel they’re a bit wasteful and we’d rather send handwritten thank you letters to our loved ones because it’s something a little more personal and meaningful.”
