These two met at a music festival and deliberately held their wedding in December, “when everyone’s in the mood for a party!” So it’s safe to say we figured we were in for a fun-filled wedding with this one, friends. Add their chic choice of clothing – Prea James Bridal and M.J. Bale to be specific – and we were sold. Photographer, Zoe of Maple and June was there to document the day (and night) and you should do yourself a favour and scroll down for all the details…

THE VENUE “My family has a place down the NSW South Coast at Cunjurong Point, which we were staying at over Christmas. Alex and I were in town at Milton when he suggested we go for a drink at this winery he saw a friend visit on Facebook. When we walked into Cupitt’s Estate it started drizzling and it was still so breathtaking (hence why I was never worried if it rained on our wedding day). We had a drink looking out over Burrill Lake and the Budawang mountain ranges and couldn’t believe we had found our venue so easy.”

FAVE DETAILS “I really loved Alex and his groomsmens’ ties. Often the groom and groomsmen don’t get much of a look in but Alex wanted to have something special for the day. We found them a month out at Ted Baker London but there were only five left in the country. I managed to track one down at a department store in Ireland and got it shipped to one of the groomsmen who was living in London. He brought it back in his hand luggage because he knew there was a lot at stake over those ties! I also loved my veil. When I walked out of the church it flew off, but made for some great photos.”

THE DRESS “My Prea James Bridal dress was the first I tried on. I saw it on Instagram, tracked it down and instantly fell in love with it – I took my mum, sister and dad to the first fitting. I did try some other dresses on but they only confirmed how much I loved the first one. For such a young designer, Prea James Bridal is just so talented. I loved the shape and how comfortable it was, and Prea fitted it so perfectly to my body.”

MEMORABLE MOMENTS “Five days before our wedding, the Currowan fires broke out and started travelling north up to Milton and Ulladulla. Instead of checking the rain radar, we were now checking the NSW Rural Fire Service app daily. Luckily the fires held off and the blanket of thick smoke eased for our day, but it worsened over the coming weeks and devastated the area and the local businesses that helped make our day so special. Looking back at photos, we’ll always appreciate how lucky we were but it also reminds us how much we love the South Coast, how we want to continue to support the area and how it will always have a special place in our hearts.”

A WORD OF ADVICE “Get the video – it does seem like a big upfront cost but you won’t regret it!”

WE’RE GLAD WE… “We always knew we wanted to include kids at our wedding. Three of Alex’s young cousins did readings at the ceremony and they all had so much fun running around and dancing at the reception. Cupitt’s Estate is very family-friendly and was so accommodating.”

STANDOUT VENDORS “Sam our florist (of Fleur My Darling) had to put up with us changing our mind about our theme six weeks before the wedding, and she also managed to pull together some arrangements for the church with only four days notice. Zoe, our photographer (of Maple and June) also managed to calmly wrangle a rowdy bridal party of 12 to create some magical photos!”
