Like flashing lights in our rear view mirror, this wedding caught our attention straight away – but in a good way. With Luke Going, a man known for his unique and beautiful portraiture, behind the lens and one of our fave Queensland celebrants Paul Voge presiding over ceremonies, we knew Kenisha and Justin’s wedding, held on their five year anniversary, was going to be a doozy.
“After attending three weddings of some close friends within in a month of our engagement, we decided to have our own wedding as soon as possible”, says Kenisha who organised everything within 12 weeks. “Having 12 weeks to plan a wedding worked really well for us. We had to only focus on the important things to us, to ensure we and our guests had a memorable, relaxed and ultimately awesome party.”
That said, Kenisha and Justin went about organising A Little Vintage Bliss to style their ceremony at New Farm Park in Queensland and Bouquet Boutique to help AV Ideas Wedding Lighting add the final touches to their industrial inspired reception. “Bulimba Village was the first and only venue we looked at. It was perfect for us. The graffiti/stencils in the toilets and the street art on the back wall outside, the raw industrial feel to the place and the fact that it is essentially a blank canvas it was exactly what we wanted.”
Things like stationery, music and catering were also outsourced so that Kenisha could focus on the things that mattered most – like finding the perfect dress. “It was the first shop and second dress I tried on. I was in Melbourne for a friends wedding and had a day to pop out to Armadale. We went to Rachel Gilbert after I had noticed her elegant designs online. The Ivy was the second dress I tried on and knew it was perfect.”
