April and Aaron have been a glorious couple for eight years now and tied the knot in one seriously chic Sydney wedding (at the most of iconic of venues) with Ilsa Wynne-Hoelscher Kidd behind the camera. “Although we were both born overseas, we spent most of our lives in Sydney. It’s the very city where we met and now call our own,” the bride shares. Trust us, you don’t want to miss this one. Scroll down for all the deets, stat…

THE VENUE “Aaron and I had actually chosen the reception venue before deciding on the ceremony location. We were determined to celebrate our special day at the Opera House because it symbolises home for us. From there, we decided to hold our ceremony at the State Library, and two factors played a pivotal role in this choice: its proximity to the reception venue and its remarkable architectural structure. ”

THE INSPO “I wanted a blend of chic, elegance, and edginess, yet I couldn’t quite visualise how that would manifest. So when Laice introduced the idea of a ‘neon moment’ vibe, I immediately fell in love with it. It was fresh, unconventional, yet retained an air of elegance.”

THE DRESS  “The ‘this is the one’ moment in my dress search arrived surprisingly early. It happened at Sphere Bridal Gallery, only the second bridal dress shop I visited. Even before I embarked on the journey of dress shopping, I held a vision of simplicity close to my heart. So, when I had a chat with Sarah from Sphere Bridal Gallery, she truly understood the aesthetic I was after. When Sarah introduced the dress for me to try on, I held modest expectations. However, the moment I stepped into the gown, it felt almost magical, as cringe as it may sound. My posture straightened, my entire demeanour transformed, and that’s when I knew without a doubt that I had found the dress.”

MEMORABLE MOMENT “We took a moment during our reception to savour it all. We simply stood together amidst the whirl of dancing and celebration, taking a pause to cherish the presence of all our beloved friends and family who had gathered to celebrate our special day. The day passes by in the blink of an eye, so it was truly special to take a moment, slow down, and soak in every bit of it.”

FAVE DEETS “The extra-long neon ribbon on my bouquet from Fritillerie was a standout feature. I had never seen a bride use a neon ribbon for her flower bouquet, and I loved how it added a chic touch to my overall aesthetic.”

STANDOUT VENDORS “I can’t sing enough praises for Laice Bollen, our extraordinary stylist and planner. She brought the wedding of my dreams to life. Ilsa Wynne-Hoelscher Kidd, our talented photographer, and Dear Vincent, our videographer, beautifully captured our dream day. I’m so grateful that I chose creatives I deeply connected with because I find myself reminiscing about how incredible our wedding was. I frequently flip through our  photos and watch our video, each time reliving the magic of that special day.”
