Super suave couple Bec and Max, doctor and engineer respectively, tied the knot after five years together. Being the ultra dapper folk they are, their wedding day outfits were outstanding with the bride decked out in Prea James Bridal and the Groom donning head to toe M.J. Bale. Even their rings were from some of our all-time fave jewellers (Ruusk and Grew & Co FYI), so of course, we love em’! In fact, the bride’s engagement ring was made by another of ours faves, Meg Maskell,and utilised a two carrot sapphire mined on the family property. Luxurious right?! FAVOURITE DETAILS “Our flowers were a highlight. My sister Mel (with the help of our good friend and neighbour, Leanne) spent two days before the wedding making the bouquets, boutonnieres, table flowers, and decoration for the bridal table. Mel ordered some flowers in from the local florist but also spent quite a lot of time “foraging” on the farm for greenery to add. We also found material on the farm to use as vases. We basically wanted rusty steel pipes with that lovely deep orange colour that we could cut to length and use for table vases. I was so happy with how the bouquets turned out, they were just beautiful and the native flowers we included really worked with the deeper colours I was after.”

DIY “Lots! My father made the pier we got married on and Max and I helped to pour the concrete one weekend. We also made our bridal table and the stage for the band. The seats for the ceremony were timber logs milled by Dad.”

THE DRESS “I absolutely loved my dress, it really felt like me and I was so happy and comfortable on the day. I wanted quite a simple, modern design. I knew from the very beginning that I preferred straight, slim dresses, made of white silk with no embellishments. Prea James’ Cara Dress was exactly that. It had a classic, yet modern feel to it and was so different to anything I’d seen before. Prea James is such a lovely person and her boutique is very close to where I live. I loved that Prea was so easy to work with and made the dress to my split sizing, which meant I really didn’t have to get any alterations done.”

REFERENCES “I tried to keep my vendors as local as possible. Being from a small town, and particularly in the middle of a terrible drought, I thought it was important to try to give my business to locals as much as possible. Monty Haron for our celebrant was an obvious choice, and I don’t think he would have ever forgiven me if I didn’t choose him! Our caterers [Little Coco’s] are from Armidale, our hire company [Gold Event Hire] are from Inverell, and our lighting team [Mr and Mrs Hill] are friends of ours from Glen Innes. My hair and makeup artists were also local women, as is the wonderful Megan Core. I contacted Jordan [Redmoose Photography] after seeing some of his stuff online and he seemed so lovely and easy to work with that he was also an easy choice. Our band, Uptown, were absolutely incredible. We hired them as we remembered seeing them perform in Newcastle a couple of years ago. I came across Prea James, Ruusk, and Grew & Co through Hello May!”

WE’RE GLAD WE… “We are so glad we chose my family home to get married. It was definitely a lot of work but it was so unique and special. My parents were incredible and went above and beyond to make the day as amazing as it was. The day and the whole week had a really relaxed, family-oriented, local feel about it which is exactly what we wanted.”
