We don’t wanna say that Clare and Jono had it easy when planning, but given Clare plans events as part of her job, we definitely think they had an advantage. “I was prepared and excited to get planning,” she tells us, after Jono proposed during a getaway to Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula.
From there it was as simple as picking the spot (“Jono grew up in the Southern Highlands and had always hinted that it was an ideal choice!), finding a superstar photographer (ahem, Maple and June) and saying ‘I do’!
THE VIBE “I worked closely with the brilliant Laice from LB Styling to create the overall mood. From the outset I had a clear idea of what I wanted, which included colour, rambling garden vibes, fun atmosphere and overall, a chic garden party. We narrowed down the colour scheme first, brought in the best vendors and the garden party vibe really came to life!”
FAVE DETAILS “The flowers by Poho Flowers were a dream – whilst I was across the planning process they exceeded my wildest dreams and created something that my guests and I were in awe of. Premium linen really elevated the tablescape, we hired coloured (khaki) napkins from Simply Seated and they really tied all the colours in. The other pop detail was decals featuring a personalised logo, created by our designer Sara Riley – our venue had quite a few mirrors in the reception room so it added a beautiful touch whilst also being a photo moment for guests.”
DIY “We did BYO alcohol, which to be honest I wouldn’t do again, as it’s so hard to estimate the quantity. We had to source all the beverages (including water), deliver to the property (took five cars) and we are now left with so much still leftover!”
A WORD OF ADVICE… “On the day, the best piece of advice I received was that ‘no one knows the plan but you’ so just run with it. Also, work with people you trust. Having Laice and her husband Doug from LB Styling there on the night ensured it ran so smoothly and we had an immense amount of trust in them that the day would be perfect. Trust makes for a stress-free lead-up!”
