Nothing quite gets our hearts racing over here at Hello May HQ quite like a sage and beige colour palette (part rhyme, party purely fab combo). Delivering texture, botanicals and a whole heap of hygge, Dean and Daniel sure do know how to put together a wedding. In their own words, “Think Nordic festival meets Australian bush”. Complete with sweet wooden benches from Timbermill Rentals…Perfection. Sydney lens legend Gui Jorge was there to capture it all….

THE VENUEThe Studio was perfect. It was a blank canvas that we could do absolutely anything to. Giles was accommodating and very open-minded about our grand plans and was very supportive of our ideas. We were also fortunate enough to have The Space over three days for bump-in, the actual wedding day and bump-out. This was also one of the only cost-effective venues we could find in Sydney that didn’t have either; a) a curfew, b) restrictions on catering, c) restrictions on decorations or preferred vendors to use. It was also the perfect location for the ceremony as it was in the driveway surrounded by a vegetable garden and olive grove, and Archie Rose Distillery was right next door for a few cheeky drinks between the ceremony and reception.”

THE SUITS “Our suits were perfect! Noelle from SuitSupply in Martin Place was superb. She knew exactly what we were looking for, made the suits look immaculate and made the experience very enjoyable. We knew from day one that we wanted grey woollen suits. Not a light grey, not a dark grey, but a charcoal marle. When we showed Noelle what we were looking for, she took the lead and got everything sorted, even matched the stitching and lining to match our colour scheme of forest green and pale blush.”

LITTLE LOL “Our day ran smoothly, with a few nerves calmed by scotch and copious amounts of champagne, but the one story that had us all laughing was the moment where we had to pry Dan’s cousins away from the scissor lifts. After plenty of drinks, we all heard the loud beeping of a scissor lift reversing into the main hall, only to find the cousins trying to operate the scissor lift up and down with beers in hand. Needless to say, I was sent into a panic and tried to get the boys off the scissor lift before anyone got hurt.”

A WORD OF ADVICE “Don’t be afraid to be thrifty. A wedding doesn’t need a mortgage to be beautiful. Beg, borrow and steal if you need to – you’ll be surprised how happy and willing people are to help if you asked them to. DIY – if you’re a control freak like me, it’s the best solution. It’s also much, much cheaper! You can get exactly the style you’re looking for, but it will be a fraction of the price. Also, Facebook Marketplace – Absolute. Gold. Mine.”

STANDOUT VENDORGui (Our photographer) – the other man who stole our hearts. He was everything you would want in a photographer and more. He even bought along another photographer on the day, and his attention to detail was flawless – we cannot recommend him enough.”
