Ellie and Jonathan had every intention of a longer engagement, but after five months as fiancés, they couldn’t wait any longer. “I would say that the inspiration behind our day was ‘we’re sick of not being married’! It got to a point where we were like, ‘Screw it!’ We just wanted to be married so we organised our elopement the day before our engagement party so we could surprise our friends and family then.”

The pair gave the fabulous Kitty Loves Love a holler to photograph their retro-dream pop colour nups and as you’ll see, it really was a whole vibe. And now they’re officially hitched? “You can get away with so much once you’re married, it’s really insane… I have never heard so many couch farts in my life and there’s nothing I can do about it.” Ha!

THE VENUE “We shopped for venues and companies that specialised in elopements in Perth, and even looked at some interstate and overseas options. I think that the quirky ambience and the photographs online of newlyweds who had eloped at Rebel Rebel Wedding Chapel just caught our attention. Everyone looked beautiful and relaxed and happy in their photos and that’s what we wanted – an intimate ceremony where we could celebrate our love and commitment without worrying about anything, or anyone else on our special day.”

FAVE DETAILS “The bouquet was just to die for. Eden at Freakhaus did such an amazing job. She did the interior design at Rebel Rebel Wedding Chapel so I knew when I asked her to create the bouquet it would be exquisite and match the venue and my vibe perfectly. I left creative control up to Eden and felt comfortable trusting her to make something magical and she did not disappoint. All I wanted was for it to match my lilac accessories and the venue and she delivered.”

THE DRESS “I wanted my dress to be a little bit quirky and suit my personality and Rebel Rebel. After a couple of weeks of not finding anything I really liked, my stylist suggested having something made. She introduced me to Ursula from Dvout Bridal and, my gosh, I was not disappointed. She had around three weeks to get it done and I still don’t know how she did it. Her original design was just perfect and exactly what I wanted.”

A WORD OF ADVICE… “Make sure what you are doing is everything that you want to do. Make every moment of it about yourselves and what you want. Weddings have become so much more about other people and so many couples seem to have a lot of regrets because they do things for other people and not because they want to do it.”

STANDOUT VENDORS “Our celebrant Dilhari, from Kiss Me You Fool, was incredible. She bought a warmth and comfort to the ceremony that helped to make it such a personal and special day. Similarly, our photographer Kitty, from Kitty Loves Love, went above and beyond with both the elopement and the engagement party photography and couldn’t have made it any easier or more fun. Kitty is just such a fun warm person and makes it so easy to feel comfortable having your photo taken.”
