Guys. These two performed an impromptu dance routine to Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody and didn’t leave the dance floor all night. Can you get a better indicator of a fun-filled night? We think not. The groom looked super sharp in his M.J. Bale suit and the bride, a slinky silk number that could not have looked more beautiful. THE VENUE “We knew that we wanted something in the country, a few hours out of Sydney (so it was still close for everyone) and a place where we could have a big party with limited rules. Kimo Estate was so easy going and flexible with everything in order to make our day truly ours and unique. And the sunsets over their hills are beautiful.”

THE VIBE “We wanted to focus on the music, dancing, cocktails and making sure that everyone was relaxed enjoying the party. We got the dancing and cocktails started early thanks to The John Field Band. Instead of a wedding cake, we wanted something that everyone could eat and enjoy, but still be able to continue dancing whilst eating so we served Paddle Pops and Golden Gaytimes on the dance floor. We also had a huge bonfire which created some amazing photos.”

FAVE DETAILS “Some of my favourite details were our flowers by Little Triffids Flowers. As we had an outdoor dance floor, I worked closely with our florist who created a six-metre floral installation at the front of the shed which was amazing. Inside the shed was full of amazing florals and foliage which looked beautiful as it was all lit by candlelight. Also, Emma Corbett from The Styling Store created the most beautiful signage and seating plan arrangements.”

THE DRESSMy mum and sister actually sent it through to me months before and I thought it wouldn’t suit me. But when I was trying on other dresses at One Day, I gave it a go and I loved it straight away. They were so easy to work with.”

REFERENCES “I found them mostly through Instagram and Hello May. Both were a great source of inspiration and resources. We also took parts that we loved from our amazing friends’ and family’s weddings that we have been to.”

WE’RE GLAD WE… “Chose such a beautiful location as people were so amazed by the hills and sunset – which meant we didn’t have to spend too much on extra décor making it look pretty as mother nature really helped us out. Also that we had an outdoor dance floor. It was the first of its kind at Kimo Estate as they usually do it all inside the shed. We wanted to take advantage of the view, have a huge eight-piece band and have everyone enjoying their cocktails and dance under the stars and around this huge bonfire that Kimo Estate made for us.”

STANDOUT VENDORS “Our absolute stars would have to be Jack Henry Photography, who made us feel so comfortable the entire day and captured so amazing moments. Emelia from Kimo Estate, who was so helpful throughout the entire process – no request or idea was too out there. Emma from The Styling Store, who made everything look so beautiful and romantic. Beth and Sophie from Little Triffids Flowers, who brought all of my ideas to life (and then added to them). Our cocktail girls from Betsy’s Goodbar were creative and amazing. And The John Field Band were absolute standouts – the best band going around and were so helpful with the planning process in order to help us create the best party possible.”

Emma and James’ big day was originally published in Issue 28 of Hello May magazine. Nab yourself a copy via our online store and we’re even throwing in a free mag, so get onto that!
