After 12 years together, and literally a lifetime spent by one another’s side (their parents owned neighbouring properties), Emma and Sam hosted an intimate registry wedding, and they have these words of wisdom to share: “Do your own day and don’t compare what you want to what others have had. Plan a day you feel connected to.” Amen! The happy couple also had the good sense to hire the truly talented Dani and Nikki from Untamed Creative to capture their day, and the beautiful results below are all kinds of magic.
THE ENGAGEMENT “The LONGEST! It was seven years. It wasn’t without trying though. We even got as close as locking in a date, sending out invitations but then postponing. Each time we thought we were onto a good plan something felt off. We’re not sure if it was time, age or finally choosing the day for us but it was worth the wait.”
THE INSPO “We wanted an intimate, no-fuss day. We were there to finally get married and spend time with the closest people in our lives. A traditional wedding never really sat right with us. We spent the night before together with family eating pizza, had breakfast together, got dressed together and had pre-wedding drinks and nibbles with all our guests in our room. When it came time to get married our kids were by our side, we walked down the aisle together. We never really understood the idea behind being away from each other on the most important day as a couple. So that was our inspiration.”
THE BRIDAL LOOK “I knew the look I wanted, and a gown wasn’t going to cut it. I also knew it would be a huge risk. It took some time to find the perfect suit [from Carla Zampatti]. The morning of the wedding I wasn’t even sure I could pull it off. I was so nervous to see everyone’s reaction. One thing is for sure, though, everything pulled together: hair, makeup, heels, flowers… and that suit.”
STANDOUT VENDOR “Hands down Dani and Nikki from Untamed Creative. They were our non-negotiable. We originally found them on Instagram – they had shot another couple at the same ceremony location. In our naivety, we thought, ‘That’s great they will know the lighting’. They brought so much more than that…. Creative geniuses is a much better term. At the end of the day our photos and video are what we hold to look at and re-live our day. It was a valuable investment!”
