In an elegant take on a country wedding, this couple upped the glamour with touches of gold, black and red (I mean, just look at those flower girl gowns, not to mention that cake!) Then there’s the checkerboard dance floor- lit up for the perfect pics after dark- and the entertainment, who had guests on it all night long- our friends and vendors, the Baker Boys Band. THE PROPOSAL “Haha! Richard rang my Dad while we were in Austin to ask for his permission. I am the first person out of us children to get married, so it was all very new and exciting for my Dad. So much so, that hours later, he rang me and said ‘thats good news isn’t it.’ I asked him what he was talking about and he replied “Richard, calling to ask me if he can marry you.’ Richard was in the background and shouted out, ‘I haven’t bloody asked her yet!’ He proposed the next day as we were out sightseeing…”

THE VENUE “We knew what kind of feel we wanted the wedding to have. Something elegant but bold and to feel true to who we are. As we were overseas for the first few months of the engagement, we employed the services of Bek Burrows (wedding stylist) and after telling her what we were after, she suggested Clarendon House– it was perfect!”

FAVOURITE DETAILS “The flowers! And the food! Having such high quality Tasmanian produce was a great way to show off Tasmania to new visitors. There was plenty of food and the way it was displayed on the feast table was awesome.”

THE DRESS “I loved my dress! I got it custom made from Studio White. Before I had even thought of the dress I found a vintage Chanel belt in America, so the dress pretty much came second to that. I wanted something clean, quite classic and a bit dramatic, that wouldn’t compete with the flowers, hair, makeup, or belt, but work with all of those items. The dress was made of raw silk.”

WE’RE GLAD WE… “Had the black and white dance floor!! It was a bit tricky to find and at one point we were going to go for a normal timber floor, but I’m so glad we didn’t give up. It just added another element to the reception and looked awesome in the photos.”

STANDOUT VENDORS “By far the best vendor would have been our incredible photographer Aleksandar Jason. The photos Alek took were amazing! He was such a kind, fun guy. We felt really at ease around him. The second would have been our stylist Bek Burrows. She literally took everything we had swimming around in our heads and made it a beautiful reality.”
