Despite being apprehensive about throwing a destination wedding at first, Ivette and Andrew – or Vetty and Andy to their friends and fam – are so glad they went for it! “The response from guests when we sent out our invitations was overwhelmingly positive. Everyone threw themselves into the trip to Tasmania, and it was so special to share not just a single day but a weekend with our friends and family,” the pair tells us.

With the help of one our faves, event planner and stylist Blossom Gatherings, Vetty and Andy put together one helluva party. Thankfully, Jon Gazzignato caught it all on camera so we could take a peek. Scroll down for more…

THE VENUE “We had fallen in love with Tasmania during a visit in 2021. Rather than trying to brave the Queensland summer for our February wedding, we thought Tassie would be the perfect place for a destination wedding. We had found some venues online and made another trip down after we got engaged to check them out. As soon as we arrived at Vaucluse we knew it was the one. The venue is absolutely stunning and the Vaucluse team was incredibly accommodating when helping us plan our big day.”

THE INSPO “We took inspiration from the magnificent weddings we had been to in Spain, where the focus is on food, drink and dancing. Some of the ideas from those weddings gelled perfectly with our dream for our guests to have a heap of fun. To that base idea of simply throwing a great party, Vetty added some unique visual touches to create a day that had style without taking itself too seriously.”

FAVE DEETS “The flowers – with a predominantly white colour palette, the bright bursts of colour from the flowers really stood out to give the ceremony space and dining tables some character. The ice sculpture by Antarctic Ice: Vetty commissioned a flower-infused ice sculpture that doubled as a piece of art and an ice-luge for pouring drinks. Straight after the ceremony, and with the sun starting to shine through the clouds, our guests poured themselves gin and tonics and mingled on the lawn.”

A WORD OF ADVICE “We absolutely recommend going out for a nice lunch, phones away and brainstorming what you want your wedding day to be. It’s likely to be the biggest party you will ever throw, so make it memorable.”

STANDOUT VENDORS “Stephanie from Blossom Gatherings was our eyes and ears on the ground. Planning a Tasmanian wedding from our home in Queensland could have been incredibly stressful, but Stephanie held our hand the whole way and it was a remarkably stress-free and enjoyable process for us. We can’t thank her enough. Also our photographer Jon Gazzignato. His energy matched ours perfectly – light-hearted and upbeat. He recognised that we had spent a long time planning the biggest party we will probably ever throw, so he didn’t drag us away from it for long stretches. Oh, and his photos are amazing!”
