It was pretty early on that Jess and Brett decided to have an intimate wedding in beautiful Greece. Considering that it’s where Jess’ dad is from (and that no one in her family had ever visited) everyone was on board from the get-go, including Canberra based (but willing to travel, obviously) Lauren Campbell Photography

THE VENUE “We never even saw our venue until we got there a few days before the wedding! After a quick search online, we loved the look of the ceremony terrace of Dana Villas, and we really liked how we were able to stay in their accommodation and be in the same venue for our ceremony and reception. Dana Villas is also right on the caldera, so the views were amazing.

FAVOURITE DETAILS “The lighting installations, cake, flowers and our candle wedding favours. We didn’t have a lot going on, so each of these components really had their chance to shine! If I had to pick one, I would say the lighting was probably a favourite for me. As soon as we walked up to our reception terrace, the first thing I noticed was the beautiful fairy lights draped along the back wall, like a curtain of stars.”

THE DRESS  “I came across the Karen Willis Holmes ready to wear sequin collection, and just loved the simplicity of the dresses, mixed with that dash of edginess. As soon as I tried it on, I could really picture it glistening in the Santorini sun.”

A LITTLE LOL “Our Greek celebrant was the funniest ever. He kept on pronouncing Brett’s name as “Brent”, and we had no idea where he got the “n” from. Our ceremony became one of those moments where everyone was forced to try not to make eye contact with each other to avoid bursting out in uncontrollable laughter.

A WORD OF ADVICE “Remember what the whole thing is about. Try not to get caught up in nitty-gritty details, and make sure you do what you as a couple want to do. Surround yourself with vendors that you click with, this will make the experience so much more pleasant and memorable.”

STANDOUT VENDORSLauren Campbell, our photographer, is an absolute ninja and was such a pleasure to have around on the day. We cannot thank her enough for travelling to the other side of the world to be there with us. She was so relaxed, and Brett was really impressed that he didn’t have to pose or really ‘do’ anything around Lauren – she just shot what she saw and it was all very natural.”
