THE VENUE “It was a no-brainer to have it at my parents bush property in Margaret River. Being able to celebrate the beginnings of my own family at the home I grew up in was so special.”
FAVOURITE DETAILS “We really just loved how relaxed the vibe was and seeing everyone we love spread out all over the property – standing around a fire, playing darts, navigating the bush in their nice clothes. Aesthetically, I was very happy with the way my mismatched retro Gumtree chairs looked for the ceremony. My bouquet was under the complete creative control of Emma from Styled Notion. I just asked her to do whatever she thought I would like and it was just so stunning.”
DIY “I sourced all the furniture, rugs, lighting, glassware… almost everything, from Gumtree, my Mum made kilometres of lace bunting, we had weekends of clearing bush and tidying up all of Dad’s projects all over the property. I picked buckets and buckets of wildflowers to dry for confetti and we used chicken wire, pendant lights and probably five peppy trees to make a greenery installation over the dance floor.”
THE DRESS “I had bought a dress a year before which was so beautiful, but every time I put it on I felt so unlike myself. I finally cracked four weeks before the wedding and had to explain to Jake that I was buying a new dress online. I remembered seeing the For Love and Lemons ‘All that glitters’ dress when I was perusing for sparkly Hen’s attire and decided that it was meant to be, as there were stars on my velvet boots, stars on the invitations and it was just the perfect mix of pretty and fun.”
REFERENCES “The only vendors who weren’t already our friends were Soul Provider Catering who Jake recruited as his one big ‘must have’ for the day and they were absolutely amazing and kept everyone talking about the food all night!”
STANDOUT VENDORS “All of them! Hannah from Keeper Creative, of course, is just one of my favourite humans and managed to get such great photos of our incredibly awkward selves and then, of course, my Best Friend/ Bridesmaid Emma of Styled Notion who nailed my dream bouquet and the grazing table from HEAVEN. Everyone involved was the greatest and went above and beyond for us!“
