Jess and Josh’s proposal story involved jumping out of a helicopter in the Swiss Alps (seriously, read the full deets below). Their 14-year relationship has also seen them explore the world and settle for a time in London, so it’s no wonder this travel-obsessed couple drew inspo from the many places they’ve seen together when planning their wonderful winery wedding. “We love to travel, it has always been a massive part of our lives so we knew we wanted to incorporate it loosely into our day,” Jess and Josh tell us. “We didn’t want to go for big obvious, tacky gestures, but more subtle nods to our love of seeing the world.” Well, folks, as you’re about to see when you scroll through Wander & Follow Images’ phenom photos, they totally nailed it…

THE PROPOSAL “We went for a jump out of a helicopter over the Swiss Alps in the morning, then ate a cheese-filled raclette burger for a late lunch, followed by a hot hike up the mountain, which we had underestimated. I wanted to retire for the day and just shower and stay in my PJs after being up so early, but Josh told me I needed to be ready for a 7:30pm dinner. I jumped in the shower and came out to see a gorgeous evening gown laid out on the bed. We went to dinner at a lovely Italian restaurant overlooking the mountains, where Josh proposed during the dish that will now forever be known as Tear-amisu.”

THE VENUE “We don’t live in Australia at the moment, so had to rely mostly on Google and recommendations. I found Kooroomba Lavender Farm & Vineyard in a list of top venues, and fell in love instantly – nothing was going to top it. We struggled to line things up to do a virtual viewing before locking in days, but all of our preferred dates kept disappearing. In the end we just booked it in on the last possible option we could work with, without having even seen anything but photos!”

LITTLE LOL “At one point on the dancefloor someone started demanding a shoey from my new husband. Despite my civilised protests, it happened. Our Italian friend who attended was also told to do one, so was given my husband’s shoe (same shoe for which the aforementioned shoey took place…). He said that he did not have a beer on hand, at which time a multitude of hands suddenly appeared, filling the shoe with ‘fresh’ beer. He chugged that shoe of booze like any proud Aussie would, followed by a very proud cheer at the end. Bellissimo.”

WE’RE GLAD WE… “Initially, I had said a videographer was a non-negotiable, but once in the throws of planning it seemed a little out of our budget. We didn’t stop thinking about it though, so about eight weeks out from our day we chatted to Wander & Follow Images and decided to do it anyways! We knew we wouldn’t regret if we did, but were likely to regret if we didn’t! Very happy with our decision, we knew having the audio to go with the visuals would enhance our memories of the day, and also give a snippet for our loved ones who couldn’t make it.”

STANDOUT VENDOR “Our photography and video team from Wander & Follow Images captured our day better than we could have imagined – nothing lasts longer than a day or two in your mind, but it’s s brought straight back each time we look at it all in digital form. We also thank them for taking us away during the night to have some alone time, and for capturing some of our favourite shots of the whole experience.”
