Meet Katie and Matthew, who after first connecting in uni, found their way back to one another and held their dream day at Bowral’s Milton Park in front of 100 of their nearest and dearest. Wearing the magnificent Vasette gown by Georgia Young Couture (LOVE!), Katie walked down the aisle to Evermore’s Never Let You Go – the song she’s wanted since she was a little girl. Matt Godkin took some super stylish captures of this elegant celebration. Scroll down to see…
THE INSPO “When planning the aesthetic of our day, we opted for a traditional garden theme with contemporary, modern twists. Being springtime we really wanted our styling to mirror the lush fresh greenery of our venue and we added fresh fruits and open lilies for some quirky details.”
THE DRESS “I love so many different silhouettes and fabrics that it was hard to commit to just one look. I took a bridesmaid with me to Love Marie Bridal Boutique in Camden with the look in mind being something satin and fitted. Amy, who owns the store, was so lovely and relaxed and it was her that suggested I try on the Vasette gown by Georgia Young Couture for fun, as I had skimmed over it initially. When I put it on, it ticked all the boxes I was after – I wanted something that was classic with modern elements and I loved the texture of the organza. The belt was also a great feature I hadn’t seen many people wear before.”
FAVE DEETS “One of my favourite parts of the day was seeing all the bridesmaids ready in their dresses. It was important to me that they all felt comfortable and themselves so we opted for mismatched florals in fresh, tonal hues. Seeing them all ready to walk down the aisle with their cascading curls and assortment of different white flowers was the first time I realised the vision had come to life . I also chose our cake to match my Georgia Young Couture gown. I had seen the ruffle cake previously on Picket Fence Cake Design’s Instagram and knew it would match the asymmetry in my dress perfectly.”
MEMORABLE MOMENT “The moment we first laid eyes on each other as I was walking down the aisle was different to what I expected. I had imagined it to be an amazing moment, but I underestimated how much comfort I would feel to just finally be with Matt on the day. I know the ceremony usually isn’t everyone’s favourtie part of a wedding – but for us we really just enjoyed every minute of officially becoming husband and wife. Our hilarious celebrant Sue also attributed to this!
WE’RE SO GLAD WE… “Went with a video last minute. Matt was skeptical but during our photos we both realised it was such a good idea, because the day was going so fast and it is so hard to take everything in with the adrenalin that is pumping!”
