Each week we celebrate ‘Throwback Thursday’ here at Hello May HQ. We grab a wedding from our print archives that’s never been seen online before and share it here with our wider (digital) audience. Today we’re taking you back to our 2021 Real Wedding Special with the beautiful Sydney wedding of Lauren and Hemant, which was photographed by one of our fave Queensland wedding photographers, the always amazing Stories By Ash.

LITTLE LOLBeing surrounded by dance teachers [as a dance teacher myself], we decided to have them choreograph an Indian dance with a few of our close mates. Our friends really got into the Indian music, culture and vibes! There was a fair share of funny moments when reflecting on us practising the dance most of whom hadn’t even heard the song before nor understood what the lyrics meant.”

STANDOUT VENDORSWe were absolutely obsessed with Stories By Ash and her photography work on both of our wedding days as well as Jasmine from Anamundi. Ash fit into our wedding day so seamlessly and took on the chaos that is an Indian wedding like the pro that she is!”

THE DRESSWe went to India to undertake a mall tour. Every day, morning and evening we would venture out to a different mall or market in order to tick items off of our list. The people in India were so helpful with selecting both the saree for the ceremony and the lehenga for the reception. I learnt quickly there are many shades of each colour and sometimes decisions were very hard since it was all so overwhelming. Indians take pride in their stitching of clothing and it was evident. The embroidery and effort that went into each garment was so intricate and beautiful. I probably tried on around 10 lehengas before I found the navy one. Every saree I said I liked the colour of was instantly draped across me within seconds, everyone was so helpful!.”

INSPOHello May was like our bible when creating the wedding – so thank you! Friends and family also help provide options of more specific vendors that were able to deliver the services specific to our Indian requirements.”

A WORD OF ADVICEDon’t skimp on your photos or videos! These are the memories that you can look back on and really hold onto. I can’t tell you the number of times that I have found myself just putting the video on or looking back at the photos.”
