Working in the same industry meant these two met when Jamie interviewed Libby for a job, “which I didn’t get (I know!),” explains the bride. “So I ended up applying for another role and working for his competitor. A year later our paths crossed at a work event and the rest is history as they say.” That’s certainly a good story for the grandchildren, right? Caught on camera by Mike Hemus Photography, you’ll find all the pics below, plus a great idea for the bride who is a little nervous to walk down the aisle…

THE VIBE “We wanted our wedding to feel like our favourite kind of Friday night at home- albeit a little more glam than our typical weekend. The food and wine were a big part of the day. We had Aperol Spritz’ and chose our favourite wines to go with an epic grazing table from The Platter Collective, our favourite wood fired pizza’s from Pizzantica and the mother of all dessert tables with my favourite cakes from Jocelyn’s Provisions and the most delicious brownies from Baix Brownies. I had always loved the idea of a winter wedding and so we went for that as the theme, choosing dark colours for all the florals and beautiful dusty pink and deep burgundy velvet couches and chairs from Hampton Event Hire with lots of black accents as well.”

FAVOURITE DETAILS “The florals completely blew my mind. We had given Ivy and Bleu a fairly loose brief of dark moody colours and wild sprawling design and they just totally nailed it. From the uneven double post arbour to the table designs and huge bar arrangement, we adored the combination of colours and flowers- those black roses! Also, the makeup was just beautiful. My friend Mon who owns The Beauty Journal used all natural makeup to create such glowy looks on all the girls, they looked stunning.”

THE DRESS “The very first dress I fell in love with was The Bowery by Pallas Collective. Its ethereal style was so perfect but we were trying to keep the wedding as low key and budget-friendly as possible, so I decided not to splurge. I ordered another online and had a little hiccup when the dress turned up completely different only three months out from the wedding! It turned out that all roads led back to Pallas, I rushed straight into the Claremont boutique and the ladies were so lovely and I ended up with the dream dress I had loved from the beginning! Some things are just meant to be.”

REFERENCES “I must have had a thousand photos saved on Instagram from various florists, stylists and makeup artists, all filed into albums so I could easily go back through them. Hello May was a huge inspiration source, with coverage on so many different wedding styles, it was especially helpful for seeing fully pulled-together weddings to get a clear picture of what we liked and didn’t.”

WE’RE GLAD WE “I was pretty nervous about walking down the aisle. A girlfriend gave me a great tip to ask our celebrant to get the crowd to cheer as I walked down the aisle. It was honestly one of the best parts of the day when I saw everyone smiling and clapping it completely took the pressure off and I couldn’t help but grin from ear to ear. It also started off the ceremony on a really happy, energetic note which made everything feel so much more relaxed.”

STANDOUT VENDORSMike Hemus Photography and videographers Kristen and Danny from Luna were wonderful. We didn’t want to miss out on any fun at the reception so Mike had the tough brief of a one-hour photoshoot after the ceremony. He went over and above and we ended up having a lot of fun. We couldn’t be happier with the results. Also, Steven Childs, our acoustic musician was incredible. His cool vibes totally set the tone for the afternoon, our guests absolutely loved him!”
