Together for 11 years after first meeting at 18, Mae and Blake’s proposal story was a trip down memory lane for the loved-up pair. “We went to Timezone to play Big Buck Hunt – an arcade game we used to play every other weekend. We cleaned up and won the major prize of half a bag of candy and a prize from the claw machine. After taking a sneaky Polaroid in the photo booth to imortalise our evening, we then went and enjoyed the storm from an old rendezvous spot of ours, and with Zeus lighting up the sky I got down on one knee and put the ring on the wrong hand,” laughs Blake.

With an engagement story like that, you just know the wedding was destined to be a bloody good time. And that it was, with Ring and Veil capturing it all perfectly so we could take a squiz…

THE VENUE “We saw exactly one venue. We regularly visit a farm in the Perth hills and one day we went on a trip out there and literally drove past Rothwood. Went in, fell in love, paid the deposit right then.”

THE VIBE “A moody, old dusty jazz bar in some back ally in New Orleans. Think vintage elegance but rustic. The best place to forget your woahs and just dance.”

MEMORABLE MOMENTS “We had an absolute blast, partying, eating pizza and drinking Soju, singing along to ’90s bangers on our short party bus trip to and from our photo location. We also took a moment together to take in the day and when we looked into the marquee, we saw our friends and family having an absolute blast and tearing it up on the dance floor. It was beautiful to see.”

STANDOUT VENDORS “Eve and Joe from Ring and Veil are a winning team. Our wedding photos and video speak for themselves. They also happen to be a couple of the best humans alive, working with them was fun in a serious way. And Kevin, the man, the myth, the bloody legend who runs Rothwood. Everything we needed or had questions about, no matter how insignificant he was there, happy to help.”

LITTLE LOL “Loved watching our guests trying to smuggle extra jars of Blake’s Famous Pickles (which we had as wedding favours) in their suit pants and bags at the end of the night.”

MARRIAGE MEANS “Becoming a family. (Family said in an old Italian gangster accent)”

A WORD OF ADVICE “Go with your gut. Even if they are the #1 vendor in your area, if your not “feeling it” then don’t do it. A lot of what we achieved was through the vendors we chose, we found people who understood our aethstetic and enjoyed life as we do.”
