After 10 years together, Maegan & Brendan knew exactly what they wanted when it came to getting hitched: “A big celebration with funky tunes and rad vibes.” Our kind of peeps! Mission accomplished with The Vintage Stylus in charge of the dancefloor. The highschool sweethearts assembled a killer line-up to bring their “huge party” to life. Hosted at The Burrow with Brendan in M.J. Bale (after winning a voucher through Hello May!), Maegan’s hair & makeup by the talented Kate McCleary and Georgia Wiggs behind the lens, this colourful, joyful wedding just oozes those good-time vibes. THE VENUE “We found The Burrow Event Space in Hello May – it was the first one we went to and we fell in love. What really stood out was the different areas. It has a huge indoor section for the reception, then a bunch of options for the ceremony that could be utilised throughout the night too, which was awesome. You can tell that Ally and her family love the place and take great pride in what they have achieved. Ally was so helpful from the initial meeting and then every moment after that.”

DIY “As a school teacher, I wanted my Grade 2 class involved in my wedding so I asked my students to answer the question, ‘Why did Meagan marry Brendan?’. The students wrote their answers and drew a matching picture. The responses were awesome, like, ‘because he has big muscles’, ‘because he does funny dance moves’ or ‘to have babies’. We had them scattered around the reception on the tables and the guests absolutely loved them.”

TAKE ON TRADITION  “We knew we wanted a huge party. The goal was to have fun, so we made sure that was at the forefront of everything we put into place. We had two bestmen, three groomsmen, a maid-of-honour and three bridesmaids – right there is an example of how we didn’t really care for the traditional wedding setting. We also had flowermen and both of my parents walked me down the aisle. We loved it!”

THE SUIT “Would you believe that we actually won a $1000 voucher from Hello May to M.J. Bale?! We were so lucky! Brendan knew what he wanted, and surprise, surprise, the first one he tried on was perfect. M.J. Bale are so helpful and knowledgeable – it was  a great experience.”

FAVE DEETS “The flowers [from Lulo and Ly Floral Studio] were my absolute favourite detail. I designed everything around them. Whenever anyone sees photos from the wedding, the first thing they say is always something about the flowers. I also loved our favours. I was struggling to choose something that reflected us. I honestly gave up looking and then at a little shop in the Dandenong Ranges I saw the Freckleberry initials – rainbow, food, sprinkles and personal – and that was decided.”

STANDOUT VENDORS “We met our photographer Georgia in a cafe and as soon as we walked out, we both knew she was going to capture our day. We love you Georgia!”
