Keeping it low key, Robbie proposed whilst he and Melisa were out taking their beloved doggo for a stroll. A cruisey 18-month engagement ensued, culminating in one heck of a big day, black roses and seriously elegant feels included. Best of all, HM fave Janneke Storm was behind the lens. Scroll down for details and the rest of her fab captures…

THE VIBE “We both wanted a wedding where everyone felt the romance. We wanted it to be about us, hence why we didn’t have a bridal party. We wanted all the details to really put out that feel, so we went with soft and elegant elements. This was executed perfectly through our florals, styling and even our cake.”

FAVOURITE DETAILS “The florals would have to be my absolute favourite detail. We had quicksand roses and also a small amount of black roses. The petals were all folded back on each and every rose. We had two large stands of roses at the ceremony and then two hanging installations at the reception. They were the talk of the wedding and with the work that went in to them from Mondo Floral Design, I can see why!”

FAVOURITE MOMENT “We had a first look and this was probably the most special moment, however, after we saw each other for the first time we had a spare 15 minutes before Robbie had to be at the ceremony location. We got to have champagne with some of closest family and friends in our life before the ceremony and that was my absolute favourite moment.”

A WORD OF ADVICE “You have to be prepared that things might not go to your exact plan, the fig tree might fall over before the day or it might rain (just like it did on our day). There is absolutely nothing you can do about those things and no matter where you end up saying your vows, you won’t even care about those things. What matters is that you and your partner are coming together to celebrate your love with the closest people in your life. You will absolutely love whatever happens. For us, the rain made the day magic and just bought everyone we loved closer together.”

STANDOUT VENDORS “Of course Janneke! She is a true artist. We had an engagement shoot with Janneke and from that moment on we were just so excited to share our day with her! She was there for us every step of the way with any advice we needed but she also gave us a gift that we will have forever – our images. She captured so much emotion from the day and being able to relive that day is so incredible. I also must say our wedding planner Carly from CL Wedding Events. She put in so much extra time to make sure everything went to plan (when it all started to not go to plan) and she created a space that was absolute magic.”
