As a wedding photographer herself (none other than the lovely AM for Love Studio), Michaela was always gonna put together a damn good celebration when it was her turn to tie the knot. When she married her man Dan in an “Italian, garden party but in the city”, Michaela made sure she had one of the best in the biz Elsa Campbell working the camera. We’ll let the newlyweds fill you in on the rest of the deets…

THE PROPOSAL “I knew I wanted to surprise Michaela in a big way, so I organised a friend to send an enquiry through to her photography business (AM for Love Studio) for a photoshoot to take place in the Royal Botanic Gardens Melbourne. She accepted the job for December 17 and my plans began. I planted the seed that it was bring your dog to work day coming up so on the morning of the ‘photoshoot’ I pretended to go to work as normal, but with our dog Frankie. Michaela was scheduled to meet for her shoot at a specific location pinned in Google maps. When she arrived she saw me standing there with Frankie down on one knee. Michaela was so surprised and very emotional. It was perfect.”

REFERENCES “Being in the industry, my vendors were all creatives that I had worked with or admire. Lots of Hello May favourites, of course!”

THE VENUE “I have seen many a wedding venue so finding the right one for us was a task. We had looked at two other places and then when I told Dan about this rooftop bar in the city he was intrigued. Once we took those stairs up and got sight of Siglo there really was no other option! It reminded us of being on a rooftop bar in Europe.”

LITTLE LOL “Dan is a man of great detail. After endless online searching and purchasing around seven pairs of socks to find just the right pink to match his shirt we had almost given up until Dan three days out decided to buy one last pair online which were a much brighter pink than his shirt (not right). Two nights before the wedding he was in our courtyard, bleaching them by hand. It’s all in the detail.”

FAVE DEETS “The flowers – Bronte from Blonde Florals was amazing to deal with and just got it. Seeing the flowers for the first time literally took my breath away and when she delivered my bouquet to me I actually cried.”

THE DRESS “My dress was from Kamperett and I can confidently say it is my favourite thing I have ever worn. After going into one bridal store and having a terrible experience, I swore I would not go to another one again. My sister had tagged me in an image of my dress before we were even engaged saying ‘This is your wedding dress’. So after that experience I decided to just order it online and hope for the best.”

STANDOUT VENDORSElsa Campbell our photographer and Carlo our videographer were both incredible on the day and really took the stress out of it. We were so at ease the entire day knowing they would capture all of the moments and details. They both understood the craziness of it all with the kids and the importance of family and all the chaos and love that surrounds us. Elsa delivered the most incredible gallery of images that tell the story of the day so perfectly. We couldn’t have asked for more.”
