We like Nat and Jackson, guys. Not only is their nine-year love story stuff dreams are made of, but when it came to getting hitched these two booked one our favourite Melbourne venues Rupert on Rupert and then hired a bunch of our go-to vendors – we just knew their wedding was going to be epic. AM For Love Studio was behind the camera. Salt Flower did the phenom florals, the bride wore the ever-chic Prea James Bridal, groom suited up in Oscar Hunt Tailors and the entertainment on the day, none other than The Vintage Stylus. Big ticks all round from us. So scroll on down for all you need to know and the gorgeous imagery…

THE VENUE “We decided pretty quickly that we wanted to have our wedding in Melbourne, close to home. I had known about Rupert on Rupert for years so we decided to have dinner there one night to see if we liked the vibe. We absolutely loved the warm ambiance of and the staff and food were amazing. We checked out a few more venues in the inner north but kept coming back to Rupert as the one.”

FAVE DEETS “The flowers really took my breath away when I saw them on the day. When I spoke to the girls at Salt Flower, I really only gave them some loose colour ideas and a few inspiration photos because I wanted them to do what they do best and have some creative freedom with the arrangements! The result was a beautiful, textural, colourful array of florals and I couldn’t be happier with how it looked.  The music for the day was really important to both of us so I put in a lot of time curating a playlist for each stage of the day. Our DJ, The Vintage Stylus, had a similar taste in music so it was a no-brainer to hand them the reins for the dancefloor tunes!”

THE DRESS “I had saved lots of inspiration photos from Instagram and noticed quite a few of my favourites were Prea James Bridal gowns. This lead me to book an appointment with Bluebell Bridal who were just incredible to deal with. They were super helpful and made me really comfortable throughout the try-on process. There was one Prea James dress that I thought wasn’t for me but my sister encouraged me to try it on anyway. As soon as I put it on, I felt comfortable and beautiful and it felt like my style. I then added a beautiful Harriette Gordon blouse over the top and I knew I had found the dress for me!”

THE SUITOscar Hunt was recommended to me by a friend. I found the overall experience really easy and the consultants super helpful. I wanted a special suit for the day but also something timeless in style.”

DIY “I knew my way around Adobe Indesign enough to take on the design of the invitations, menus, place cards and seating chart myself. It was a lot of effort but I was so happy with the end result and seeing how it all come together on the day was a really proud moment.”

STANDOUT VENDORS “All of our vendors were incredible and we had a wonderful experience with each and every one of them. Our photographer Michaela [of AM For Love Studio] was a pleasure to work with and captured every moment from our day perfectly. She made us feel super comfortable in front of the camera (not an easy task considering we’re both very camera shy!). Ingrid from Tonic who did my makeup was a total delight and she absolutely nailed the ‘natural but elevated’ brief. She did such a good job of my makeup which made me feel beautiful and really comfortable on the day.”

A WORD OF ADVICE “Keep it simple and create the day that you want. Play to your strengths and outsource in areas that you find too stressful. There are so many ways of doing things and lots of opinions and inspiration but it’s important the overall day feels like ‘you.’”
