Some weddings are so dang nice we need to sing about them twice – and Nicole and Tristan’s big day, which first featured in issue 33 of our print edition, is one of them, friends. Is part of our adoration of this day because they celebrated all week in the lead-up? That’s a definite maybe! “We stayed at Stonefields for the week leading up to the wedding,” share the couple of their pre-nup escape. “We absolutely loved walking down the glorious streets of Daylesford and running into our loved ones who had all travelled down in the days leading up to the big day.”

They sorted themselves a stellar team, from Madeline Kate on pics to Baker Boys Band on entertainment – and peep those cute Peggy and Finn bow ties on the lads, lush! One detail we’re especially loving? THese guys repurposed their stunning florals as favours when the night came to an end. “Our caterer, Firecracker Event, used all of the flowers from the wedding and made beautiful bouquets for the guests as they were leaving.” Love that!

THE VENUEThe Burrow was the first and only venue we went to! We fell in love as soon as we pulled into the driveway. We are both from small country towns and it just had the most magnificent country, homely vibe. We also adored that it was run by a family and really connected with Ally and Brad (the owners) as soon as we met them. The fact that they had built this space for their own wedding and then shared it with others was also an incredible sentiment!”

FAVE DETAILS “We wanted to include everything that was important to us into the day – our admiration for family and friends, our love of food and wine, and one incredible dance floor!”

MEMORABLE MOMENT “One of our favourite moments in the ceremony was watching our gorgeous grandmothers bring up the wedding rings! I also adored our first look, which we did at the property where Tristan and his family got ready. His reaction – gosh I can’t even describe! The photos that Madeline Kate took captured this perfectly. He really looked like he went weak at the knees. The moment right there put the whole day into perspective – this day was about us and our love. I tear up thinking about it now.”

THE DRESS “To be honest, I was a little nervous about the dress process. I’m not one to keep up with the latest trends! I love a pop of quirk and feel the comfiest when I’m in a jumpsuit, but it just so happened that I came across a stunning Toni Maticevski silhouette online and I just knew that was what I wanted. I loved how classy it felt, but the waved hem at the bottom of the dress gave it that spark of quirk I was after. I stumbled across my reception jumpsuit by Floravere when I was in a deep dive on Instagram. As soon as I saw the tulle shoulder detail, I needed it in my life!”

REFERENCES “We are very fortunate that we are really great mates with the team behind Bottlebrush Films, who put us onto most of the vendors we then met – our photographer Madeline Kate, entertainment Baker Boys Band, and celebrant Jac the Hitcher! We then went local with Firecracker and Fig and Salt. We adore every single one of our vendors.

TAKE ON TRADITION “We weren’t focussed on the traditional aspects of weddings – cutting the cake, throwing the bouquet and having a separate bridal table. We danced down the aisle together, we sat amongst our families and friends during the reception and signed the official papers amongst the gum trees with a beer and a glass of bubbles well after the ceremony had finished.”

STANDOUT VENDORS “We cannot thank our photographer, Madeline Kate, and videographers, Bottlebrush Films, enough! I remember being quite nervous about this part as I cannot take a selfie and do feel a little odd when asked to take a photo. Madeline captured the most natural, stunning photos from the day. She turned on the tunes, got us dancing, even got us chatting about what we had for breakfast, and this really did produce the most beautiful moments.”
