If you’re pondering a low-key registry wedding, you have just stumbled upon all the encouragement you may need to pull the trigger, friends. Palm and George, (who was kitted out in M.J. Bale in case you noticed his suave demeanor), have no regrets and we sure do love a civil ceremony. Amanda Alessi caught it all on camera, so scroll down for pics and proof your day can be just as big even if small…

THE INSPO “From our experiences working in hospitality and music, we pretty much had the vibe in mind of what we wanted. We split the reception into two parts: dinner and party. We wanted the dinner section to be quite intimate, with just close friends and family and the party element later, we wanted a bit more chic and clubby.”

FAVE DEETS “I (George) created a logo… of us! And we used this on the invitation and then repeated it on the dinner menu at Cookie and then on the drinks menu at Mesa Verde. And [mine] (Palm) was [my] hairpin from Slow Waves. It says “HYSTERIC” in crystals. George’s DJ name is Hysteric and it matched my outfit. [Also the] flowers and table arrangement was done with two of our best friends, Ardit and Mia, who helped set everything up – we could not have done it without them and it looked perfect.”

DIY “Just about all of it! Haha. Running sheet, floor plan, invites, DJs, menus, food and drinks list and allergies/ dietaries, etc.
Between both of our experiences working in hospitality and related industries we felt bold enough to try to do it ourselves.”

THE SUIT “To be honest, I am not that comfortable shopping for any clothes more complicated than a t-shirt. But I knew I had to look good for this once-in-a-lifetime occasion. We went to a few different shops and for me, I felt it was hard to find a balance between style, fabric quality and our budget. Finally, we arrived at M.J. Bale in Collins Lane. The staff were very patient and helpful.”

A WORD OF ADVICE “Definitely have some idea of a budget, and prepare to go over that at least 15-20%, no matter how careful you are.”

WE WISH WE… “No regrets at all, but maybe would have been nice to have some simple videos of the day.”

STANDOUT VENDORS “We only really had two vendors – both were fantastic. Palm’s hair makeup artist, Mae Taylor and our photographer, Amanda Alessi. Amanda was recommended by a friend and we both agreed she had the style we like. Neither of us wanted anything too staged or wedding-y and we also like the way she handles architecture in her shots.”
