“Great food, excellent wine list and good music,” were this fun-loving couple’s non-negotiables on their day of days. Amen guys! The week before Christmas, Seamus (stylish in M.J. Bale and Joe Black) and Phoebe sporting a gorgeous Amelie George veil, rolled into one of Melbourne’s coolest pubs with all their favourite people and became Mr an Mrs. Luckily for us, the wonderful Madeline Kate was their to snap all the glorious details. But now, over to the newlyweds…

THE VENUE “We both love the pub! We wanted something relaxed and low-fuss, we wanted to roll in and roll out. We weren’t keen on needing to fill a venue with flowers or signage, so Naughtons was perfect. We also wanted to be in the city as we got married on the Saturday before Christmas, so wanted to make it easy for those travelling and with kids. Naughtons has dining tables out on the footpath and we had envisioned our family and friends mingling in the sun on Royal Parade, and that is exactly what we got.”

THE DRESS “I bought (and returned!) a few before I stumbled across this one on ASOS, which ticked all the boxes, and I honestly did not expect it to be such high quality and for it to fit me so perfectly. People are so shocked to hear my dress is from ASOS.”

THE SUIT “I had a good idea of the tuxedo I was looking for but perhaps was not prepared for tackling Chadstone post-Covid restrictions! Bustling through a throng, we headed straight for M.J. Bale with Phoebe’s dad to sort out ours suits. M.J. Bale was ideal as I could just let my best man know the style and then leave it to him to navigate a similarly packed Bondi Junction. Easy peasy”.

THE VIBE “Our thinking was you cannot go wrong with excellent food, wine, music and your best people in the room together. We also wanted to keep things simple from an organisational perspective and avoid spending the lead up to the wedding stressed by pulling together multiple moving parts.”

WE’RE SO GLAD WE… “We snuck home for some pics with Madeline Kate  in between the ceremony and the reception – I love that we have those memories.”

DIY “Seamus made our wedding booklets, but that is about it! We kept everything as low-touch as possible.”

STANDOUT VENDORSMadeline Kate is an absolute pro. Maddy was the only wedding-y vendor that we really invested in, and boy was she worth it. We have received so many compliments about our photos and her advice on the day was invaluable.”
