Guys, you know we love us some high-school sweethearts here at Hello May, and Rachael and Kyle are the ultimate. “We can’t really remember life without each other,” they tell us. It took Kyle 15 years to pop the question while on holiday in Mexico, despite having an engagement ring hiding under the bed for three whole years! From there, they wasted no time sealing the deal, planning the whole shebang  in just three months. They did a damn-good job of it, too, securing legendary lens lady The Nook by Kate Disher-Quill for photos and The White Tree to take care of tunes, with roaming sax included (ofc). We are also frothing over their chic big-day fits (hello Zimmermann pants for her and Theodore suit for him), and can’t wait to share the rest of these gorg nups below. Read what the newlyweds have to say, then start your scroll…

THE VENUE “We were keen on having our celebration by the beach, especially in Lorne as it is a special place for us. We have holidayed there with family for a long time. As soon as we arrived at The Peak and met event planner Bridge, it just felt like us. She was so relaxed, said yes to everything we asked, and allowed us to dance until late! We were able to have our ceremony under an enormous white gum and then wander to the reception with incredible views over the ocean, all at the same venue.”

THE BRIDAL OUTFIT “I always knew I wanted to wear pants. I didn’t go wedding dress shopping at all. I had an idea in my head and came across a pair of Zimmermann silk pants online. Not having a lot of time to organise worked in my favour. I bought the pants and when they arrived they were perfect. I then had to design and make a top to match. My bridesmaid Alice suggested her cousin who is a seamstress – she agreed to work with me, guiding me on what fabric to look for. I am so grateful for her time and patience as it all came together and was exactly what I had imagined. I loved this process, but I had a clear vision which helped.”

DIY “I undertook the flower arranging. I visited the Geelong Flower Farm a month before the wedding and picked out the general look and feel for what i was after. I then finalised the selection the day before the wedding and made the table settings and bouquets the night before. I was still making the boutonnieres the morning of the wedding.”

MEMORABLE MOMENT “Margarita hour! We had our photos taken before the ceremony, which meant we could spend as much time with our people as possible  – we didn’t want to miss any of the party! We had cocktails and canapes outside as the sun was setting looking over the ocean with all our favourite people. It was very special.”

STANDOUT VENDORS “Despite organising our wedding in only three months, we managed to book everyone we wanted. The team at The White Tree were great and so professional – we had acoustic music for the ceremony and cocktail hour, and then DJ and saxophone, which made it hard for anyone to leave the dancefloor. And Kate Disher-Quill our photographer was an absolute legend. She made us and everyone feel so comfortable which translated to our photos. She has a beautiful natural style and captured the day perfectly.”
