Sabrina and Michael’s Sunshine Coast nuptials, held in the groom’s parents’ backyard, turned out to be a steamy affair, from the gorg golden hour picks to ending the night cooling off in the pool (yep, the pool. Even Nan got in on the action by the looks of things). Thank goodness Queenslander Artography was there to capture the roaring good times. We’ll let the newlyweds fill you in on the rest…

THE ENGAGEMENTWe got engaged on Christmas Day in 2019 and were married in October 2021, so just under two years. Which was way longer an engagement than we planned, but unfortunately Covid knocked things around a little.”

THE THEMEThe vibes were 100 per cent Sabrina’s vision. She collected and collated the ideas and I helped by making or sourcing what I could to see it realised. The inspirations were spring in the country with muted linens and bright pops of flowers in blue and yellow.”

DIYStarting with Sabrina painstakingly hand-making the paper for every invitation, the arbour was also a vision of Sabrina’s that I drew up and had a friend help me fabricate from steel. We also made the bar and brewed the beer ourselves (with a little help from Brew Brothers).”

THE DRESSThis was my non-negotiable. I wanted it to be the standout of the day. Something custom and original that suited my personal style. I used Marilyn Crystelle Bridal [paired with a stunning Grace Loves Lace veil) and she was nothing short of amazing. She listened to all the ideas I had and curated them into the dress of my dreams. The journey from concept to completion was about six fittings and such an exciting process, I loved every second of it”

LITTLE LOLMy twin, the best man, who could not make it due to lockdowns had a full-scale cut-out of himself in his suit delivered. This had many dances with us during the night and even a dip in the pool. Mum still has it in her house and brings it out whenever we get together!”
