After a couple of false starts thanks to the pandemic, Sally and Bob finally got hitched in April 2022 – and with a big focus on fun, this day was the epic party they’d dreamed of. “We wanted to ensure the day was not only special for us, but also for those in attendance.”

From Sally’s incredible sparkly dress to Bob’s dapper Oscar Hunt suit, beautiful native flowers adorning the venue and great food and wine, these nups were bringing the party feels like nobody’s business – and one of our faves, Jess Nicholls, took the snaps to prove it!

THE DRESS “All I knew is that I wanted sequins – lots of sequins. I had decided that a custom dress was the way to go and Stacey (Popovski) was recommended to me.  From the initial enquiry she came back to me so quickly and said very succinctly, ‘size isn’t an issue. Everything is custom made for you, so any and all bodies welcome.’ Stacey created a dress that highlighted the bits of my body I liked and even made me appreciate the bits I did not like so much. She helped me navigate the emotional minefield of a body that I’m rarely confident in and day where all eyes are on me.  The dress, to me, could not have been more perfect and I felt so confident and beautiful on the day.”

THE SUIT “I can’t talk about the suit without talking about the shoes and belt as well, as I started there, at Wootten in Richmond. They handmade both the shoes and belt, which I wanted as the highlight features of my outfit.  From there, I spoke to Wei at Oscar Hunt about my ideas on how the suit and tie would look (not having any real idea what I was doing) and he was able to turn my very rough ideas into a fantastic overall look on the day.  I was very happy with the experience I had.”

REFERENCES “We found most of our vendors close to our local area via Instagram and Hello May. I cannot tell you how much I appreciated that the real weddings featured in Hello May are actually REAL and inclusive.”

MEMORABLE MOMENT “Bob and I decided to walk down the aisle together.  Although not overly traditional, it was a natural decision for us as we tackle all the important stuff together and getting married was no different. What we weren’t expecting when we emerged to walk down the aisle was the loudest and longest of cheers and applause from our friends and family.  Although we had selected a song to walk down the aisle to, the soundtrack provided by our guests was better than any song we could have chosen.”

STANDOUT VENDORSJess Nicholls (our photographer) and Scott of Cyan Wolves (videographer) were so laidback and completely put us at ease.  ]Considering Bob and I were quite nervous about the photos, the shots Jess got were so candid and very ‘us’. We cannot help but smile when we look at the photos. Jess and Scott are a dream team and I cannot recommend the highly enough.”
