“Colourful and fun” was the inspo for Sam and Shanley’s gorg Brissie day. “Two key elements we loved were having different colours for each bridesmaid, which came from the bouquet and the homey Mediterranean feel of the blue and white vases,” says the couple who enlisted their friends Mrs Gibbons Flowers to create serious vibes at their nups! Created By G captured stunning mems, which we can’t wait to show you below…

THE VENUE “We decided on High Church because we wanted to get married in a chapel without leaving Brisbane. And The Black Albion because it matched the Lake Como afternoon family dinner vibe we were aiming for, and the staff gave us so much trust in their capability to make it an incredible night. We loved the rustic style cultivated by The Black and the atrium was a huge advantage as the afternoon light looks great coming through the glass.”

FAVE DETAILS “The flowers! Amber and David of Mrs Gibbons Flowers are close family friends of ours and we left the florals and styling completely up to them. They surprised us in the church with the beautiful arbour and blew us away in the reception with the spectacular table flower decor and hanging ceiling displays. They are floral geniuses. The way Amber and David made us feel when we walked into the ceremony and the reception and saw the flowers will forever live in our hearts and minds.”

DIY “We created the seating chart ourselves by taking a Polaroid of us holding a photo of each guest and placing the Polaroid on a board. Guests had to find their photo, refer to the table number on the back of the photo and then take their seat. It was a take-home gift to be put on the guest’s fridge and a fun way for guests to engage with each other about the memory captured.”

MEMORABLE MOMENT “A quiet moment on the empty dance floor in between the speeches. While everyone was having dinner Sam and I took a moment to do an impromptu slow dance and talk about the day, taking in the moment. Our immediate family and closest friends then joined us and we got a chance to all embrace each other.”

STANDOUT VENDORS “Our photographer! Georgia of Created By G was a dream to work with and knew how to bring us out of our shell to capture moments we cherish forever.”

A WORD OF ADVICE “Plan the wedding together. Make all the big decisions together and then divide up the small decisions between bride and groom. It worked for us and ensures the bride does not carry the burden of planning. The other thing that worked for us really well was creating a thorough itinerary for vendors as soon as possible. They will appreciate it immensely.”
