You can really feel the love in this one, friends. Sam said it was literally “a simple ‘hello’ from Andrew at the local Bowling Club,” and they’ve been together ever since. Describing themselves as “very creative minds in creative industries,” we knew this was going to be an epic wedding, but wow, guys. Just wow. Thankfully, the wonderful Beck Rocchi Photography was there to document the day and you can find all the pics below, plus our interview with the gorgeous couple…
THE VENUE “We live in a small country/coastal town – the quaint little village of Pambula – and it has the divine Banksia Restaurant. It is owned by a couple, Huw and Renee, who turned the old heritage-listed bank into a fine dining restaurant. It has a gorgeous backyard with lush green grass and the perfect pastel green backdrop of the old bank. We went for dinner one night and just got chatting – Huw and Renee were overjoyed when we asked them if we could hold our wedding reception in their stunning backyard.”
THE VIBE “Our inspiration was purely carefree, love and happiness – a sense of belonging for everyone invited. We used retro couches and coffee tables to create a cosy outdoor lounge room vibe on the grass. Our family and friends mean the world to us – celebrating our special day with them was always going to be a good time!”
FAVE DETAILS “We had an epic cocktail float bar by the fabulous team CaraVan Morrison – it was the perfect touch with the mint green horse float turned bar, where you could walk up and pull your own keg cocktail (mojito or passionfruit Caprioska) into the ‘keep mugs’ we purchased for everyone to take home. Plus my dad’s retro pinball machines, which were a hit and light up the dance floor at night.”
DIY “My gorgeous husband (who is a builder) created our stunning wooden arbour which everyone loved, along with our wedding favour DIY mug board, where we had 90 Moscow Mule keep mugs hanging. When guests entered the reception they grabbed a mug to drink from and then take home. It said, please take one, to have and to hold.”
THE DRESS “I always wanted long sleeves and backless. After visiting numerous wedding dress shops and also being 6ft tall I just couldn’t find the right fit. A gorgeous lady who owns CC Bridal in our hometown does custom dresses, so I made an appointment with her and the rest is history. It truly was my dream dress.”
MARRIAGE MEANS… “When they say ‘nothing changes,’ we do believe that as we are truly best friends and do everything together, however, we have felt a large shift and a sense of belonging and being a family unit. Togetherness is such a beautiful feeling and to be honest, we love gloating ‘this is my husband or wife!’”
A WORD OF ADVICE “All the little things don’t matter – your guests won’t notice and to be honest, we literally had rain, hail and shine! Your guests come together and support your love in any circumstances – it is truly the best day of your life. Don’t worry if that vase does not match the others.”
WE’RE GLAD WE… “We have absolutely no regrets. So glad we hired two retro Kombi vans (Hello Kombi) and leaving an esky of food and champagne in them! It really made our day and they were super fun in photos.”
