These two M.J. Bale bedecked grooms decided to tie the knot after almost five years together. Their decision came largely as a result of the desire to make sure their Italian Greyhound, Pickles, would grow up in a semi-traditional home. On top of that, they were keen to acknowledge their love for each other in a way that is public and ongoing. Sweet, huh? Well, just you check out these snaps! THE VIBE “We really wanted a day where we could engage with our guests from the minute they arrived. That was the reason James and I decided to get ready together and have our photos taken before the guests arrived. We met everyone with a glass of champagne as their transport arrived and had a chance to say hello and calm our nerves.”

FAVOURITE DETAILS “The team at Beautiflora managed to take our very vague thoughts and turn them into something simply stunning. Our arbour was suspended from the fig tree and we were lucky enough to see it be constructed from our accommodation. The end result, along with the foliage and internal installs, was just magic!”

THE SUITS “I [Shannon] have worn a suit most of my working life so I know my fit pretty well. While we didn’t want to look like twins walking down the aisle, we did want our outfits to be complimentary and ended up with a mix of pieces from MJ Bale and Scotch & Soda as well as hats from Melbourne’s Grand Hatters to finish the looks off. They were also a practical accessory given we married on such a gorgeous sunny day.”

LITTLE LOL “Our friend Mark wore a blue lace shirt, very similar colour and design to what James’ 80-year-old grandmother was wearing. They hit it off instantly!”

A WORD OF ADVICE “Plan it together. We made every decision together which made it a really stress-free and enjoyable process.”

WE’RE GLAD WE “I think the best decision we made was to have our photos (solo, together and with close family) taken before our guests arrived. This enabled us to really connect with our guests and not have to worry about being taken away from them for hours during the party.”
