Sian and Nikita’s love story began, the way all the best romances do, as teenagers while working together at Maccas. Five years later, the gals got engaged… twice! “We kinda did the getting engaged thing twice! Nikita proposed to me on New Year’s Eve and then I popped the question in return about six months later,” Sian shares. After a two-year engagement, they became Mrs and Mrs at Sian’s aunt and uncle’s beautiful seaside property in Tassie with 30 of the favourite people watching on. Alivia Rose Photography was on hand to capture every cute, colourful moment, including the rainbow confetti celebration, courtesy of The Whole Bride. Dive right into this incredible day on the Tasmanian coast…

THE VENUE  “We had visited my aunt and uncle’s home in Dolphin Sands along the east coast of Tasmania multiple times in the lead-up to our wedding and it’s truly breathtaking – from the architecture to the views over the bay of The Hazards in Freycinet. When it came time to start planning, we knew straightaway we had to ask if they would host our wedding. We are INCREDIBLY grateful they said yes because it worked out to be the most special location and perfect backdrop for the day.”

DIY “The whole thing was a bit of a DIY project, and we are unbelievably grateful to all of our family and friends for really rallying around us to help create the perfect day. From hanging lights, to picking up different bits and bobs from all corners of Tasmania, to completely transforming the ceremony location into a reception/party space while we were off taking photos!”

THE DRESS Nikita: “I kinda always knew I didn’t want a long dress so ended up literally just Googling “short wedding dresses” (shocker!) and found my dress through Etsy – Have Dress Store. It was a really lovely online experience. My fave elements are obviously the big poofy sleeves and skirt.”
Sian: “When I saw my Aje dress online I really liked the cut, length and slightly off-white colour, so went and tried it on store and the rest is history. I also wore a one shoulder dress at our engagement party, so it felt like a nice nod to that too!”

THE VIBE “We didn’t have a theme necessarily, but the words ‘bright’, ‘colourful’, ‘laidback’ and ‘fun’ were thrown around quite a bit when chatting with our vendors. We weren’t at all worried about any traditions or formalities, so we just focused on pulling together elements that we thought fit those buzz words for us. Think house party but cute and colourful.”

A WORD OF ADVICE “Don’t get caught up in all the things you think you have to do just to tick off all the boxes. There are a million and one ways to have a wedding, so just focus on planning a day with the elements that you are your partner both actually want.”

STANDOUT VENDORSAlivia, our photographer, was an absolute gem! Super fun energy to have around and she captured our day beautifully- definitely the kind of person you want to be real life friends with. Gyp Darling (Daneeka) our florist was also so amazing. She understood our brief 1000 per cent and we were so obsessed with how the bouquets and arrangements turned out.”

LITTLE LOL “It was hilarious watching my blissfully unaware Grandma, on multiple occasions throughout the evening, unknowingly stand right in front of the professional photographer because she wanted some snaps of us on her little old phone camera. She is an absolute icon.”
