Creative couple Sophie and Ben met at a friends wedding in Las Vegas and ended up falling in love on the flight home. Three years later, on a sweet little South Coast sojourn, Ben proposed to Sophie after a day of swimming, surfing, reading and sleeping. Ideal right? Our good friend Jimmy Raper was there to capture all the gorgeous details…

THE VENUE “My family live in Bowral where my Mum has her own Real Estate business so she knows all of the grand properties and their owners. We saw The Carriage House and knew right away that we could pull off our event here and worked closely with the manager, Sara Smith to create an unforgettable weekend for our family and friends. The Carriage House was home to us and our bridal party over the 3 days – we converted the stables to a dining hall and the lawn to a garden party and ceremony site.”

THE VIBE “The venue is covered with the most beautiful green ivy so that really inspired the styling. It was just so naturally stunning that we opted for a gorgeous garden party feel featuring beautiful flowers, fairy lights and pontoon lights – simple and ambient.”

FAVOURITE DETAILS “The wedding cake was spectacular – Matty from Violets and Vinegar asked us a few of our favourite flavours, and from that created a total surprise combination (white chocolate and lavender with macadamia crumble for those of you wondering!)… one I still dream about in fact!”

THE DRESS “The Dress!! I went to SO many shops, thank goodness for my amazing sister in law’s extraordinary patience. I almost bought a simple white dress off the rack as I couldn’t bear to try on another dress! But in a last bid attempt, Ben booked us a flight to Melbourne for the weekend. I walked into One Day Bridal, saw the dress of my dreams, tried it on and knew instantly it was the one… I didn’t even try any other dresses, I was so in love!”

FAVOURITE MOMENTS “Our best friend did a reading and surprised us with ‘Thats Amore’ which we all sung together relentlessly when travelling in Europe – you will see me in hysterics in the photos during the ceremony! My Dad’s speech was a poem he wrote for me when I turned twelve, which had been hidden in the archives which was really special also.”

WE’RE GLAD WE…“Had everything at the one place – the ceremony flowed into canapés in the garden then we moved inside for a sit-down dinner and finally danced under the stars.”

STANDOUT VENDORS “One Day Bridal were amazing, the staff were so helpful and lovely. Also, our event organiser Alison from Tea Cup Events was an amazing support – everything flowed so perfectly on the day and I was able to relax and enjoy it. Finally, Jimmy, our photographer was incredible! He was calm, never interrupted our day and captured all the small magic moments that made the day what it was.”
